The Smyrna Chapter of the GNPA is excited to have Cecil Holmes present “Night Sky Photography.” The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm at the Smyrna Community Center.

This presentation will discuss the basics of capturing the beauty of the world above us. We will discuss the technical aspects of camera settings and why those settings are the right choice for this type of photography. We’ll cover shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal lengths, focusing modes, etc. and how each of these plays an important role in the images we capture of the dark skies.

We will talk about mobile apps used to locate the sun, moon and milky way and about how each of those effect the night sky. We’ll also talk about how moon and sunrise and set times, as well as moon phases influence the skies above us.

Finally, we will look at several images of the night skies and discuss each of them.
