7PM - Fernbank Science Center

Focus Stacking - When to use it, how to do it, and how to process it. Art Stiles will explain how to photograph a scene using multiple images with different focal points for a final, merged image having a greater depth of field (sharp focus). Post process merging will be demonstrated using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. Attendees will be given take-home a guide for practice.

Those attending this presentation are requested to:

1. Install a Depth of Field (DOF) calculator on your smart phone. Simple DOF is recommended for IOS/iPhone and DOF Calculator is recommended for Android phones. You can find these in the App Store for your phone. (If you can’t understand the DOF Calculator you have, it is probably not the best one for your use.)
2. Bring your camera to the meeting with your favorite landscape lens and camera manual.
3. Check the lens manual or go online and determine the shortest/minimum focus distance for your lens.

Art is an award-winning nature photographer and is always looking for ways to improve his skills. He is an experienced teacher and loves to share his knowledge with others. He is inspired and motivated by connecting with nature through photography.
