2019 06 obx horsesThe Outer Banks of North Carolina is a paradise for photographers.  This scenic ribbon of sand offers spectacular sunrises over the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and fantastic sunsets over the waters of the expansive Sounds.

Natural areas abound (with abundant wildlife) in the Outer Banks region with 8 National Wildlife Refuges, 2 National Seashores, numerous State Parks and many other protected areas.  The 5 lighthouses (including the tallest in the U.S.) of the Outer Banks region have always attracted attention from mariners, photographers and tourists

Wildlife on the Outer Banks include:  bears, horses and many varieties of birds.  The bears on the Wildlife Refuges in Eastern North Carolina will be extremely active in June.

The small group size will provide GNPA members the opportunity to photograph these beautiful animals up close with Outer Banks resident and pro photographer Mark Buckler.

2019 06 obx lighthouseThe Outer Banks’ lighthouses and fishing piers will make exceptional foreground elements for photographs of sunrises and sunsets.

Weather conditions will dictate the daily schedule as to maximize the opportunity to capture wildlife and the landscapes at their best.
