Trees Atlanta is one of the partners for the Conservation Photography group within GNPA.

2018 04 07 Sweep the Hooch Clean Up Crew 350w DSC9041 1 1Open to Current GNPA Members Only

Sweep the Hooch is an annual day of service, on Saturday, April 6, 2019 – 9am to 1pm., to the Chattahoochee River watershed. 

The event mobilizes volunteers on foot, in waders, or paddlers to remove trash at locations throughout the watershed. There are more than 40 cleanup locations from the headwaters above Lake Lanier, through Atlanta, and down to West Point Lake.

GNPA will be supporting the event by asking you to volunteer as a photographer, donating your images back to the event organizers. 

In order to participate in this free event, you must be registered (on the GNPA event page, not the Sweep the Hooch website). 

Once you are registered for the event a member of the GNPA Conservation Committee will be in touch with you to work out your assignment location and time.

2019 04 Stay Focused ASoP ImageAnnouncing a NEW Partnership with the Atlanta School of Photography (ASoP) and the Gwinnett Chapter of the Georgia Nature Photographers Association (GNPA).

Our effort to provide new innovative ways to offer photography classes for newer and more experienced GNPA members, we are very excited announce this new partner with the ASoP. 

This first class “Stay Focused” will be offered at two times. Both sessions will cover the same materials, so only register for one, NOT both.  Each class is limited to only 10, so don’t wait register as soon as you can.   Only GNPA members can take advantage of an Early Bird Registration before the general public.

Regular fee is $35.

Session #2 from 7:00pm-9:00pm

Overview of the class:  There are so many factors to understand and consider to keeping your subject sharp. Take advantage of the newest technology your camera and lenses have to offer, explore different settings including:

  • • Focus points
  • • Focus Modes - Still vs continuous
  • • Back button focusing
  • • Locking focus methods
  • • Lens stabilization
  • • Movement techniques

We’ll have plenty of hands-on practice time, so bring your:

  • • DSLR or mirrorless camera
  • • Different array of lenses OR your favorite OR most tricky lens
  • • Camera manual (if you don’t have the original book, download the PDF online for your camera)

GNPA members from these classes will also have the opportunity to put what you’ve learned into practice. The following Sunday, April 7 we plan to  have a Photo Walk at a time and nearby location to be announced.

2019 03CNC family small 0115GNPA Member Only Event

The Chattahoochee Nature Center has been a great partner and home to our Roswell GNPA Chapter. Come join us as we give back to the CNC.

We will be taking photos that we will donate to CNC for their publications and social media outreach.  CNC will give us a shot list of desired photos on the day of the shoot. This is a chance to use your photography skills for a good cause and have your photos seen by the public.

Hopefully, we can inspire others to love nature as we do.  Instructions will be sent by email after registration.
